Mortar is the substance used for joining bricks for
wall constructions. Dry mix mortar is an excellent substitute to regular mortar
as it offers extremely thin joints. Even if it is a thin-joint adhesive, it
possesses high strength attributes. Dry mix mortar requires 35% water to become
the “paste” for blocks and does not require any curing, unlike conventional
mortar that requires a minimum of seven days. Here are other reasons why dry mix mortar is better for
building purposes:
- High bond strength – Load
bearing capacity and overall masonry strength are increased thanks to the
high adhesive strength of dry mix mortar, which is 3.4 Mpa—that’s five
times stronger than the conventional mortar.
- No shrinkage cracks – One of
the problems with regular mortar is shrinkage cracks. Since dry mix mortar
retains water, cracking is not a problem.
- High thermal insulation – Due
to the thin joints offered by dry mix mortar, heat transfer can be
prevented.
- High coverage – Dry mix
mortar offers higher volume and lower density—40kgs can cover around 200
to 225 sq. ft.
- Economical – Thanks to its
high coverage quality, dry mix mortar can save money. It requires three
times less for application compared to conventional mortar.
- Zero wastage – With easy
application, dry mix mortar can avoid material wastage.
- Saves time – Construction
workers can skip out on jobsite blending; only water is required to work
with dry mix mortar. Since dry mix mortar uses tested raw material and
computerized mixing, consistent quality can be expected.
